Costs for the purchase of power from Appalachian Power Company have continued to increase due to fuel and other distribution costs increases. VTES purchases most of the power provided to our customers from Appalachian Power Company. Over the last year, material costs for transformers, conduit, wire and other electric service distribution materials have increased significantly as well. These costs are built into our rates.
We use a third-party consultant who develops rates for many utilities in the country. They have worked with VTES to help develop our rates based on our costs.
