Large General Service

Initiating Service

Signing up for service is easy. Just visit our office (with a valid photo ID) and fill out an Application for Service. Residential customers do not have to pay a deposit. Commercial customers are required to pay a deposit equal to two months of service ($25 minimum). All customers are charged a $12 service fee, which is added to the filling billing statement.

If you or someone in your service location uses a life-sustaining device prescribed by a licensed physician, notify our office at 540-231-6437 to become registered as a life support customer. Written certification from your doctor may be required. It is important that the Virginia Tech Electric Service be aware of any life-sustaining equipment at your service location so that we can reach you quickly should a power outage occur.

Terminating Service

Do not vacate your residence without notifying VTES. To remove your name from your electric service account, you must notify our office in person or by telephone at 540-231-6437. You will be asked to provide a forwarding address or make other arrangements to receive your final billing. You are responsible for all consumption at your service location until a final reading by our service personnel is complete.
